Terms of use

The plain terms for using Bereit and buying an exam pass.

Licence

Bereit is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. The points below add what is specific to Bereit. Where they differ, mandatory consumer protection law in your country always applies.

Practice, not an official exam

Bereit is an independent practice app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Goethe-Institut, and its tasks are written for practice, not taken from real exams. Grades and estimated results are produced automatically, partly by AI, to help you prepare. They can be wrong and are not official results or a prediction you can rely on for your exam.

Free and paid

  • Lesen and Hören practice is free.
  • Your first graded Schreiben task and your first graded Sprechen task are free.
  • Unlimited graded Schreiben and Sprechen and full mock exams need an exam pass, offered for 1 month or 3 months. Current prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you buy.

The exam pass

  • An exam pass is a one-time purchase. It does not renew and is not a subscription: it ends by itself after 30 or 90 days, and nothing more is charged.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
  • The pass belongs to the Bereit account you bought it with and works on every device you sign in on. Use Restore purchases on the Exam pass screen if it doesn't show.
  • A pass bought while another is still active starts when the current one ends.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies; request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. A refunded pass stops working.

Fair use

Grading has a daily limit per account to keep the service available for everyone. Answers handed in over the limit are graded automatically once there is room again. Use Bereit for your own practice: don't share your account, try to work around the limits, or submit content that isn't an attempt at the task.

Your answers

Your answers stay yours. You allow Bereit to process them to grade them and show you your progress, as described in the privacy policy.

Changes and availability

I may update Bereit and these terms. Features can change, and if a change affects what you pay for, I'll say so here and in the app.
